About Power Of My People

Our Shirts

Responsibly made shirts handcrafted for your capsule wardrobe.

CONSTRUCTION:
When we first started Power Of My People, Kyle and I made all of our shirts ourselves - Kyle cutting the fabric on our apartment floor, and myself sewing them in our utility closet that housed the sewing machines. The first shirts we made took us 18 hours to construct - each. I will never get tired of watching the skillful technicians in Richmond, Canada, who make our shirts now, at the speed in which they make them, while achieving a standard of quality we are proud of.

DESIGN:

We've evolved a lot since 2015, but some things haven't changed. From the beginning, we've designed all of our items to be the core of your capsule wardrobe. We provide an alternative to flimsy fabrics, poor construction, and high cost-per-wear purchases. Our clothes are made to be your forever-favourites - key pieces that will be your wardrobe companions throughout your style evolutions.
On top of our original shirting collection, we've also launched our STUDIO line consisting of capsule-friendly made to order pieces, constructed in our New Westminster studio.

FABRIC:

All of our clothing is constructed with the highest quality, natural fibre fabrics we can find. We source all of our fabrics from trusted suppliers, and all fibres that make up our fabrics are sourced from countries with exemplary ethical manufacturing standards such as France, The United States and Australia.

FIT:

Lastly, we promise that we'll stay true to our fits. After a year of painstaking development, we created two classic fits that all of our shirts still, and always will, adhere to:

Women's Proper Fit: A Classic straight fit with refined proportions.
Women's Wayward Fit: A loose fit with dropped shoulders and added length, made in both long and short sleeve options.

All of our fits are constructed to allow you the freedom to move and conquer the tasks of your every day. Read more about our fits and picking the right size here.

The Owners

Jessica Matthew is co-founder and designer behind Power Of My People. Located in New Westminster, Canada, Jessica has transformed her obsession for button-ups into a company that encapsulates everything she looks for in essential wardrobe pieces.
Co-founder Kyle Kozma spearheads business development and the inner workings of the Power Of My People website. He has a passion for building things and our company is constantly inspired by his unrelenting curiosity.

We believe that you don’t need to be an environmentalist to save the world, a fine artist to inspire others, or an activist to create social change. People do their best work when they’re having a good time, and through that work you have the power to make an impact.
