Rebecca has been repairing shoes and boots since early 2009, when she began learning the trade from a 3rd generation Dutch cobbler in Vancouver. In November 2013 Rebecca opened East Van Shoe Repair and has been kicking ass ever since.
“I’ve seen pictures of my niece growing up and thinking that she can be a cobbler… I wouldn’t have thought of this as a job at that age, that just wasn’t in my realm of thinking that I can do this kind of job. That boundary is not drawn for her, she’ll grow up thinking that anyone can do that. Things like that kind of motivate me, just knowing that it makes a difference when others see women as cobblers.”Read Rebecca's People Series Editorial here.
