Something you should know about Power Of My People is that we love to share.
When I was trying to get my first job in the clothing industry, it was quite a challenge. There’s a brick wall that stands in between a graduate from design school and the industry itself and it took 6 months, a bit of serendipity, and some light stalking in order to land my first job as a production assistant at a clothing company. Since then, I’ve tried to make a point out of sharing as much as I can about my experiences and what I know to anybody who wants to listen. We don’t think there’s any reason to keep things to ourselves when what you know could help, teach, or entertain someone else.
After working in the industry for a while, I realized that the same closed-offness that graduates struggle with can apply to customers as well. Certain things are highlighted, others glossed over in an attempt to show processes and products in certain ways. We want our community to have a place where questions can be answered, where you can learn what the difference is between something good and something great, and where you can find tips and advise about your favourite shirts. So, let us introduce the “Get To Know Your Shirt Better” blog series. Each month we will focus on a different facet of our shirts, and use them as a viewfinder to discuss the clothing industry and history as a whole.
If you’d like to be notified when a new post in the series is released, sign up for our newsletter here
. If you have any questions or suggestions for things you’ve always wanted to know about shirts, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Lord knows I love talking shop so any discussion is always welcome.
